This is still happening, despite changing the global setting for closing windows to no. Has anyone seen this? Got any ideas? Thanks for any help.

I only see discussions on how to disable this feature when it debuted in Lion, not so much with my issue.

It USED to work fine on my old installation of 10.8.3 which is why this is confusing. As far as I can tell, on a default installation of 10.8.3, restore windows is now disabled by default. This is a fresh install of 10.8.3, to which I've moved over some apps and their corresponding preference files from a back up - I did /not/ move any preferences for any default apps, however, so I fail to see how that may interfere with this. I've tried setting NSQuitAlwaysKeepsWindows to 1 but love there. Now, however, whenever I launch it, it brings me to an iCloud open file window (or This Computer, should I choose it). As backwards as this seems, since this is a much maligned feature, the one app I liked having restore windows was Textedit - for quick notes etc.
